Notes for World History

MEANING OF FASCISM

Fascism never produced a great writer who could explain its philosophy clearly in the way that Marx did for communism; this makes it difficult to put down exactly what fascism means. However, it eventually emerged that Mussolini’s fascism had the following basic features:

  • A stable and authoritarian government
  • Extreme nationalism
  • A one-party state
  • Economic self-sufficiency
  • Modern forms of propaganda- uniforms, marches, songs, etc.
  • Military strength and violence
