Q1. Recognition becomes essential as it gives rise to certain effects important for a State to deal with international community. Examine. (15 Marks)

Answer Approach: 

  • Introduction: Define recognition in 1-2 lines. 
  • Main Body: Elaborate on the effects of recognition and the consequences of non-recognition. Try to incorporate at least 2-3 examples where countries enjoyed the benefits of effects of recognition or other countries which suffered the disadvantages of non-recognition. 
  • Conclusion: Conclude by highlighting the most important effect of recognition from which other effects flow. 
  • Tip for students: Try to address the main demand of the question, i.e. keep your focus on the effects of recognition. Don’t write too much on constitutive and declaratory theories.
