Q1. Is international law really law? Explain giving arguments for and against.  

Answer Approach: 

  • Introduction: Explain the main basis why this question is asked by many eminent jurists. Name some jurists in favour and others against. 
  • Main body: Explain in detail the reasons propounded by various eminent jurists both in favour of and against. First discuss the reasons against and then give reasons for. The reasons given in favour should ideally be more than those given in against.  
  • Conclusion: Conclude by summarizing summarizing the essence of the entire answer and/or with the help of an example from contemporary international affairs where the role of international law in governing international relations was exemplified.  
  • Tip for students: In this type of mainstream and straightforward question, you should try to quote some examples in a concise manner to get an edge over fellow aspirants.
