Whether its Taj Mahal or any other Islamic architecture, we see a lot of domes and arch’s in these in these structures, isn’t ?
But do you know that neither the arch nor the dome was a Muslim invention ?
The Arabs borrowed the concept of arch and dome from Rome through the Byzantine empire, developed them and made their own.
The arch and dome were widely used not just because they looked beautiful but because they dispensed with the need for a large number of pillars to support the roof and enabled the construction of large halls with a clear view.
Its not that arch and domes were not known to India before the arrival of Arab invaders, they were already known to us but they were not used on a large scale.
